Born February 13th 1765.
Baptized at Deane.
Matriculated from St John's College, Oxford on July 3rd 1779.
M.A. 1788.
Curate of Overton.
Rector of Steventon, succeeding his father, 1805–1819.
Married first, March 27th 1792, at Laverstoke, Anne, daughter of General and Lady Jane Mathew (née Lady Jane Bertie, daughter of the Duke of Ancaster.)
Anne died, May 3rd 1795, having had issue:

Jane Anna Elizabeth Austen. [2]
Born April 15th 1793 at Laverstoke.
Married, November 8th 1814, at Steventon, Benjamin, son of the Rev. Isaac Peter George Lefroy.
Benjamin Lefroy later took Holy Orders, becoming Rector of Ashe, Hants. on the death of his elder brother. He died in August 1829.
'I have a book written by my Grandmother, Anna Austen, one of Jane's favourite nieces. During the war, for fear of bombs, I sent most of Jane's letters to Anna to the beautiful library at St John's College, Oxford – where so many of the family had been.'
